My Musical Fate Rests In Your Hands [Updated]

As always, I'm jonesin' for a hit from my dealer, the iTunes music store. A musical smorgasbord awaits me. But so many choices! To you, dear reader, I hand the keys to my credibility (hipster, indie, street, et al), popularity, enjoyment, and edification.

Make a vote on what I should buy this month. In return, I promise to bend to your will like a reed in the wind. Additionally, I will post a review of said album in my best faux-Blender style. Thrilling prospect, I know. I'll tone things down here in the future. But bask in the moment and consider the possibilities:

My musical fate rests in your hands. Are you not entertained?!

[Update: Elissa and John reminded me of a few more. Thanks for making this more difficult, guys.]:

Recommend Isaac Hayes.

I second the Isaac Hayes, and also HIGHLY recommend this little gem by The Sugarplastic.

Definitely Kicking Television. I love their reworkings of the material from A Ghost Is Born. I wish I had Z.

I vote Z just because I want to know if I should buy it...

well, I don't know about it myself, but the critics are hot on mesmerize (psycho, groupie, cocaine, crazy!).

I also support flaming lips live sessions.

It appears we are in need of a tie-breaker. Two full votes for the Wilco set, Isaac Hayes, and Z. One vote for Sugarplastic, Mesmerize, and the Lips.

Thanks everyone who has voted so far.

Anybody else? Can I get a witness here?

For whatever reason, I think that asking for live sets and/or compilation albums as Christmas presents makes sense. Scratch Wilco, Isaac, and the Lips. I'm going to be difficult, and vote for Rogue Wave or The Hold Steady.

[Noel says this is not fair or helpful]

So, if I have to vote for one of the front runners, I'll go for Z, but with trepidation, since I'm concerned that his voice and the sci-fi reverb will wear me out by track 4.

Let me complicate matters further by suggesting that the soundtrack to The Squid and the Whale trumps any of these options.

But among the current finalists, I'd pick Wilco, The Hold Steady and Guero. The last of which you should already own. Shame.

Wait, why are those your only options?

Do you HAVE all other Wilco albums? Why guero? If you need a good Beck album get Sea Change. I'm not sure I understand exactly what you need. Considering that I consider myself to have hands down the second best taste in music next to JD, I feel like I need clearer guidelines before I beging to bestow my impressive knowledge upon the masses in this instance.

Sorry to be tardy in response, guys.

Mesh, I can't take your non-polled opinion seriously if that's what it's going to be. But first, give me a minute to check Amazon for info...
...okay, it's 60s and 70s indie folk. I'm safe, and you are indeed serious. I'll take it under consideration.

Q, I do indeed have the other major Wilco albums, as well as the other major Beck albums mentioned. I don't *need* anything. I'm just trolling for ill-formed opinions, that's all. I figured that I'll be happy with most of the list already, so I just need help picking from amongst hopeful winners.

Further, I hereby state that if Josh Daniels should choose to cast a vote, I will weight it by a factor of four.
