It's hard not to think of Douglas Adams' similar whale, hoping that the rapidly approaching planet might be his friend.

The whale really draws out an existential response, doesn't it? A poor little bastard kid, calling out in some awkward voice that no one recognizes. Like us.

"What's that big green thing rushing toward me? It's coming really fast! I wonder if it will be my frien..."
